The Oselobua Family Foundation (“the Foundation”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through osefafo.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Who we are
The Oselobua Family Foundation is a non-profit organisation based at 153 Mushin Road, Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at info@osefafo.org or +234 814 636 5488.
Information we collect
- Contact messages. When you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and anything you choose to include in your message.
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe to updates, we keep your name and email address so we can send them.
- Program registrations and online forms. When you register for one of our programs or fill in another form on our website, we receive the answers you give. Depending on the form, this can include your name, email address, phone number, gender, age range, occupation or business, and how you heard about us. We also record the date and time you submitted the form.
- Donations. When you give, we receive your name, email address, and the amount and date of your gift. Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider; we do not see or store them.
- Volunteers and partners. If you offer to volunteer or partner with us, we keep the details you share so we can follow up.
- Website usage. Like most websites, we collect basic technical information such as your browser type, device, the pages you visit, and your approximate location, using cookies and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics).
How we use your information
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To process donations, send receipts, and thank you for your support.
- To send newsletters and updates you have asked for.
- To manage program registrations: to confirm your place, keep track of numbers, contact you about the program, and plan and report on our work.
- To email you a copy of the answers you submitted, where a form offers this.
- To coordinate volunteers, partners, and events.
- To understand how our website is used so we can improve it.
- To meet our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations.
We rely on your consent (for example, newsletter sign-ups), on what is needed to handle your request, registration, or donation, on our legal obligations, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving the Foundation’s work.
Registrations and our newsletter. When you register for a program, we also add your name and email address to our newsletter list, so we can tell you about future programs and our work. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in keeping participants informed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails, on our unsubscribe page, or by emailing info@osefafo.org, and we will stop straight away.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate, such as our website host, email and newsletter tools, payment processors, spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA), and analytics providers, and only as much as they need to do that work. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may store data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information stays protected.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep the website working and to measure visits through analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, although some features may not.
Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA)
To keep automated spam out of our contact form, newsletter sign-up, and program registration forms, we use Google reCAPTCHA. It checks that a form is being filled in by a person, not a computer program, using information such as your IP address, browser and device details, and how you use the page. This information is sent to Google. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. We use reCAPTCHA because we have a legitimate interest in protecting our website and the people who use it from spam and abuse.
Children and the people we serve
Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children online. Many of our programmes support children and young people. Where we share their stories or photographs, we do so only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and we take particular care to protect their identity and dignity. If you believe we hold information about a child that should be removed, please contact us.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Donation records are kept for as long as accounting and legal rules require. Registration details are kept for as long as we need them to run the program and report on it, after which we delete them. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any of our emails or on our unsubscribe page, and we will stop sending it. We keep a record that you unsubscribed, so we don’t add you back by mistake.
How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No website or online service can be completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent; and
- complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
To make a request, email info@osefafo.org. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it.
Links to other websites
Our website may link to other sites, such as our partners or social media pages. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
